On a Christmas morning in 1993, something extraordinary happened to Ingo. He awoke to a telepathic instruction: “Now you are going to write a thing called the Tale of the Master of Harmlessness…”
What followed was an intense, inspired period of writing — 76 draft pages delivered in just days — a continuation of the Purple Fables he had been mysteriously prompted to create earlier that year. As Swann described, the words came not from his conscious mind but from “somebody else, someplace,” a stream of insight unfolding with a precision and timing beyond his own planning.
The Master of Harmlessness is the result of that transmission: a parable-like narrative that offers a glimpse into the deeper truths of our real selves. Blending mystical storytelling with subtle metaphysical lessons, it reveals a path of inner gentleness and higher awareness — what Ingo calls harmlessness, a quality at the very core of human evolution.
At once intimate and universal, this book stands as one of Ingo’s most unusual and profound works — an inspired message for anyone on a path of self-discovery and awakening.

What if extrasensory perception isn’t “extra” at all — but a natural part of the human mind waiting to be reawakened?
In this groundbreaking and influential book, Ingo shares the results of thousands of controlled experiments and decades of first-hand experience. The outcome is a practical, step-by-step guide for rediscovering one’s innate ESP potential.
Introducing powerful new concepts such as the “mind mound,” “mind manifestation,” and the “ESP core,” Ingo demystifies psychic perception and reveals how it connects to dreams, memory, creativity, and even modern physics. With clarity and warmth, he teaches readers how to quiet the surface mind, awaken the deeper self, and make direct contact with the subtle reality in which ESP naturally operates.
Far more than a how-to manual, Everybody’s Guide to Natural ESP is a journey into consciousness itself — an invitation to explore the hidden abilities that link intuition, imagination, and the greater human spirit.

When Ingo agreed to assist a mysterious “deep black” government agency, he had no idea how far the experience would take him — or how deeply it would shake his understanding of reality itself.
What began as a series of covert experiments on telepathy and perception quickly expanded into encounters with an intelligence that was not of this Earth. Taken to a secret underground facility near Washington D.C., and later to a remote site near the Arctic Circle, Swann was asked to observe — and later describe — events so extraordinary that few would believe them.
In Penetration, Swann reveals what he learned about extraterrestrial telepathy, the hidden truth about the Moon’s enigmatic structures and atmosphere, and the troubling questions surrounding human consciousness and mind control. The story unfolds like a classified briefing crossed with a spiritual awakening — part revelation, part warning.
Bridging psychic science, UFO research, and consciousness exploration, Penetration is more than a book — it is a testimony. Swann challenges readers to ask not only what exists beyond Earth, but what forces may already be quietly interacting with us.

When Ingo first published Penetration, it sent shockwaves through both the scientific and UFO communities. Now, in this expanded Updated Special Edition, uncovered archival materials shed even more light on one of the most extraordinary accounts ever revealed — a firsthand story that blurs the line between psychic research, extraterrestrial contact, and government secrecy.
Ingo recounts his involvement with a “deep black” agency operating beyond official oversight — a group investigating UFOs, lunar anomalies, and the telepathic capacities of non-human intelligences. Taken to a remote Arctic location, he was tasked with observing an anticipated UFO event — and soon realized he was witnessing something that defied every human assumption about perception and power.
Part autobiography, part espionage chronicle, and part metaphysical revelation, Penetration reads like coded disclosure — a hidden truth told through the lens of lived experience. Ingo contrasts the limits of undeveloped human telepathy with the possible existence of fully evolved extraterrestrial mind-communication, raising profound questions about consciousness, secrecy, and the nature of reality itself.
This Updated Special Edition also includes the rediscovered “missing chapter,” “9”, where Swann explores humanity’s collective tendency to avoid certain truths — as well as his remote viewing sessions of Mars (1975 and 1984), whose details show remarkable parallels to modern Mars data.
Featuring new introductions by Dr. Stanley Krippner and Dr. Janet Lee Mitchell, an afterword by Lt. Col. Thomas M. McNear (U.S. Army, Ret.), and newly found documents from the Harold Sherman Archives, this volume is both a historical record and a living mystery.
Penetration remains Ingo’s most controversial and captivating work — a book that dares to ask not only what’s out there, but why we’ve been conditioned not to look.

Some children see, feel, and sense the world in ways that others do not. They are deeply attuned to emotions, thoughts, energies, and invisible phenomena — the subtle dimensions of life that most adults have long forgotten how to notice.
In Preserving the Psychic Child, Ingo explores this natural sensitivity that every human is born with, but that only some retain into childhood and beyond. The psychic child, Ingo explains, is not unusual — only unfiltered. Such children are aware of both the seen and the unseen, responsive to energies, emotions, and impressions that flow through environments and people alike.
Drawing from decades of psychic research and personal insight, Ingo offers gentle guidance for parents who find themselves mystified by their child’s perceptions or behavior. His message is simple yet profound: psychic sensitivity is not a flaw to suppress but a gift to preserve — a natural capacity for empathy, intuition, and expanded awareness.
A short but illuminating work, Preserving the Psychic Child invites us all to remember that we, too, were once psychic children — and that the seeds of higher perception still live within us.

What if psychic perception isn’t a rare gift, but a natural human language waiting to be relearned?
In Psychic Literacy, Ingo invites readers to rediscover the forgotten dimensions of human awareness. Drawing connections between ancient wisdom and modern science, Swann explores the full spectrum of psychic phenomena — from intuition, visions, and “gut feelings,” to astrology, geomagnetism, bioelectricity, and the subtle energies that shape our lives.
Through his signature blend of clarity, wit, and scientific curiosity, Ingo reveals that psychic perception is not a fantasy or anomaly — it is an innate sensory system that evolved right alongside our physical senses. Just as literacy opened the door to shared knowledge, psychic literacy opens the door to shared awareness — a conscious participation in the living energy field that connects us all.
This visionary work challenges conventional ideas about consciousness and reality, urging readers to explore the full range of their perceptual potential. Psychic Literacy is both a guidebook and a call to awakening, a reminder that the next frontier of human evolution begins within.

In 1989, Ingo was invited by Dr. Elmer Green at the Menninger Foundation to take part in a series of experiments exploring physical energy fields, body electricity, and altered states of consciousness. Conducted inside an elaborate electrostatic copper-wall environment — adapted from an ancient Asian method for enhancing lucidity — the sessions dramatically amplified Swann’s clairvoyant perception.
What emerged was a striking window into the body’s higher-energy systems. Ingo describes “seeing” vivid, structured fields associated with biological processes — especially the powerful high-energy patterns linked to sexual energies. While most people sense and respond to these forces at a basic, often unconscious level, Ingo’s work suggests they can be observed, understood, and cultivated through expanded awareness.
Psychic Sexuality moves beyond laboratory notes to trace a hidden history: periods when researchers, mystics, and healers openly encountered sexual energy as a catalyst for higher consciousness — only to face vigorous social suppression. With characteristic candor and wit, Swann asks why this topic has been marginalized, offering a step-by-step rationale with surprising cultural and scientific implications.
At once empirical, provocative, and deeply human, this book invites readers to reconsider sexuality not as mere biology, but as a core component of consciousness — a living energy that shapes perception, vitality, and the evolution of the self.

If a fable is a legendary story of supernatural happenings, or a narration intended to enforce a useful truth, then these four are fables… for kind and loving people of all ages. — Ingo Swann
Over four consecutive mornings in April 1993, Ingo awoke with a compelling inner directive: write the Purple Fables. Each day brought one story, dictated from what he described as a deeper part of himself—a creative stream rich with symbolic meaning, humor, and human tenderness.
The result is a collection of four luminous modern fables:
At once simple and profound, Purple Fables carries a timeless message of kindness, unity, and inner wisdom. Each tale glows with the unmistakable warmth of Ingo Swann’s vision—a reminder that the greatest mysteries often speak in the quiet language of the heart.

Why do we see the world the way we do — and who decided it should look that way?
In this compelling exploration of consciousness, Ingo peels back the layers of what he calls “human reality boxes” — the invisible frameworks of belief, perception, and cultural conditioning that define how we experience life. From personal belief systems to vast societal constructs, Ingo shows that every human being lives within a unique “reality container” of their own making.
Yet, behind these countless boxes lies something extraordinary — the limitless consciousness that created them. Ingo suggests that the very ability to build realities is evidence of an innate human power far greater than the confined versions of reality we tend to accept. The question, then, isn’t merely how to “get out of the box,” but how to understand its nature so deeply that freedom naturally follows.
With his signature clarity and insight, Ingo reminds us that beyond the social constructs, labels, and illusions, there remains a brilliant field of awareness — the original intelligence of humankind — still alive and waiting to be rediscovered.
Reality Boxes is both a mirror and a key: a mirror that reveals the hidden architecture of our own perceptions, and a key that unlocks the boundless potential of consciousness itself.

What does it truly mean to be awake — not just in the physical sense, but in consciousness itself?
Discovered in 2016 among Ingo’s personal papers by researcher Nick Cook, two long-lost manuscripts — The Hidden Revelation and Beyond the Gods’ Devices — have been brought together for the first time in this remarkable volume, Resurrecting the Mysterious.
Together, they form what Cook and Swann-Ryder Productions describe as Ingo’s “grand unified theory of the human experience.”
In these pages, Ingo delves into the dynamic relationship between consciousness, quantum reality, and the paranormal, suggesting that psychic phenomena are not anomalies but integral components of an expanded reality set. The Hidden Revelation focuses on the inner journey — the immanent landscape of perception and self-discovery — while Beyond the Gods’ Devices explores the transcendent world that links humanity with the numinous: that vast, mysterious intelligence science has yet to describe.
Profound, provocative, and deeply human, Resurrecting the Mysterious bridges mysticism and modern science, inviting readers to rethink not just what is real, but what it means to truly be.

What if the true secret of power isn’t about controlling others — but about awakening the innate power already within us?
In Secrets of Power, Ingo peels back the layers of how societies create and sustain systems of depowerment. He exposes the false narrative that a select few must always rule over the powerless many — a belief upheld by conditioning, secrecy, and the systematic suppression of knowledge about the real capacities of human consciousness.
Ingo reveals that genuine empowerment requires more than social rebellion or reform; it demands what he calls “grokking” — a word borrowed from science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land, meaning to understand so completely that the knower and the known become one. Ingo expands this idea into the realm of consciousness science, showing that to grok is to perceive reality directly, without filters — a psychic comprehension that dissolves illusion.
Volume I lays the foundation for understanding this global dynamic of power versus depowerment, showing how awareness itself is the first act of liberation. Combining sociological critique, psychic insight, and philosophical depth, Swann offers nothing less than a new paradigm: that true power begins where secrecy ends — in consciousness itself.

In the second volume of his groundbreaking series, Ingo moves from diagnosing the mechanisms of societal depowerment to illuminating the inner structures of human empowerment itself.
Every search for power, Ingo explains, eventually raises one crucial question: What exactly are we trying to empower? Beneath the layers of social conditioning and external control lie the innate power elements of human consciousness — extraordinary capacities of awareness that our societies neither nurture nor study, yet which exist in every person.
Through decades of research and observation, Ingo identifies five major categories of human power, focusing especially on the “aware powers” — those subtle but natural abilities that connect perception, intuition, and higher cognition. Awareness, he shows, is the direct measure of power: when awareness expands, empowerment follows; when awareness contracts, depowerment takes hold.
Building on the concept of “grokking” introduced in Volume I — the deep, experiential knowing that dissolves illusion — Ingo invites readers to grok their own awareness, to recognize not only what they perceive, but what remains hidden in their latent potential.
Provocative and illuminating, Secrets of Power, Volume II offers a framework for reclaiming the inner dimensions of consciousness that make genuine empowerment possible — a vital step toward eroding the secrecy systems that keep humanity from realizing its full design.

One spring day, he sang to a flower… and the flower sang back.
When world-famous rock star and composer Dan Merriweather discovers he possesses staggering psychic powers, his life takes a turn beyond imagination. Out-of-body experiences lead him to uncover secret U.S. and Russian programs developing psychic weaponry — technologies more fearsome than any nuclear arsenal. As he grapples with the scope of these revelations, Merriweather conceives a daring plan to change the course of human destiny itself.
Blending high-concept science fiction, spiritual insight, and firsthand metaphysical experience, Ingo Swann’s Star Fire reads like a work of visionary fiction — yet beneath its thrilling surface lies what many readers have called a form of coded disclosure. Drawing upon Ingo’s own scientifically documented psychic research, the novel illuminates themes of consciousness, power, and the hidden potential of the human mind.
A page-turner charged with mystery and meaning, Star Fire invites readers to ask: What if our greatest frontiers are not in space — but within?

Note 2: In a speech at Harold Sherman's ESP Workshop in 1977, Ingo said all around us subliminal persuasion was being used against us, an ongoing covert psychotronic mind control game. Because of that he said, “I am preparing a book on psychic warfare and psychic peace. My research has led me to understand that forms of mind control behavior modification are a multimillion dollar a year business.” This is that book. The speech is available as a download in the section below.
From Guadalupe in 1531 to the modern era, the world has witnessed a steady and astonishing series of Marian apparitions — radiant manifestations that have captivated millions and defied conventional explanation. Though separated by centuries, continents, and cultures, the messages remain strikingly similar: calls for peace, repentance, and the awakening of human compassion.
In The Great Apparitions of Mary, consciousness researcher Ingo examines twenty-two of the most widely documented appearances of the Virgin Mary, tracing their patterns through history and across civilizations. But Swann’s approach is not theological — it is investigative. With the keen insight of a psychic scientist, he asks the daring question: how can something that “is not there” appear so vividly that it registers on the eye, the camera, and even the collective mind?
Drawing upon advances in holography and the emerging concept of reality as a multidimensional projection, Swann proposes that these events may represent a holographic interface — a luminous intersection between physical perception and higher consciousness. This perspective doesn’t diminish the mystery; it magnifies it, suggesting that such phenomena may be glimpses into the deeper architecture of reality itself.
Neither strictly religious nor purely skeptical, The Great Apparitions of Mary bridges science, spirituality, and human experience, inviting readers to consider that these events may be more than miracles — they may be messages encoded in light itself.

In January 1980, Ingo Swann self-published a provocative treatise examining the social, psychological, and political mechanisms behind domination and control. While framed in the context of the Cold War, Swann’s warnings transcend time — addressing what he called “an elite few dominating all the rest.”
He wrote:
“When the Soviets take over a country, they make basic and violent changes in its society. These are not abstract, remote, solely ideological changes; they affect everyone.”
Swann’s analysis, though written decades ago, resonates today as an exploration of power, conditioning, and the erosion of individual autonomy. After a limited release, the book quickly went out of print.
Now, through the preservation of Ingo’s original mechanical artwork, this rare publication has been digitally scanned and reassembled into two parts — available as free PDFs in the Downloads section below the books by Elly Flippen.
Note: Pages 36–37 are missing from the surviving mechanical artwork and are therefore not included in the downloadable files.

Among the various winds are the currents of love which blow, too, in the realms of souls.
In The Windy Song, Ingo turns from the cosmic to the deeply human, crafting a luminous story of love, memory, and the eternal bonds of spirit. Told through the lens of reincarnation, it follows souls who find one another again and again across the shifting landscapes of time — bound not by chance, but by the unseen currents of love that move through every lifetime.
With his signature blend of poetic vision and subtle metaphysical insight, Ingo reveals that the soul’s journey is far from linear. It is circular, musical, and alive — a wind that carries the echoes of who we have been, and who we are yet to become.
Though written as fiction, The Windy Song shimmers with personal resonance, hinting at Ingo’s own understanding of the continuity of consciousness. It’s a work both tender and profound — a meditation on love’s power to transcend death and time.

Is human consciousness designed to destroy itself — or to evolve toward ever greater understanding?
In this thoughtful and deeply insightful work, Ingo expands his lifelong exploration of the fuller capacities of human consciousness, examining the subtle forces that have allowed our species not only to survive but to grow wiser through millennia of challenge and change.
Across cultures and throughout history, accounts of extraordinary awareness point to one profound truth: humans and their innate consciousness are designed for a richer, more astonishing existence than most societal systems allow. Yet that potential hinges on a single sustaining factor — wisdom.
Ingo invites readers to consider two fundamental questions:
Through this lens, The Wisdom Category explores the architecture of consciousness itself — revealing how intuition, creativity, empathy, and reason all converge under the guiding principle of wisdom.
Quietly visionary and deeply human, this book is both a reflection and a call: to remember that wisdom is not something we learn — it is something we are designed to make.

What if the ability to sense the future isn’t a gift for the few — but a skill we all possess?
In Your Nostradamus Factor, Ingo explores the fascinating human capacity for precognition — the ability to perceive future events before they occur. Drawing from decades of research, documented case studies, and his own firsthand experiences, Swann demonstrates that future-seeing is not mystical fantasy, but a natural function of consciousness.
He identifies the many ways we receive glimpses of the future:
With clarity and wit, Ingo guides readers through techniques to awaken their own precognitive sensitivity — from dream analysis and prediction tracking to overcoming inner blocks and using astrology as a framework for time-based awareness.
Originally published in 1993, Your Nostradamus Factor remains a visionary work that bridges ancient prophecy and modern science, offering readers a new understanding of what it means to be truly aware — not just of the present, but of what’s to come.

“When your uncle is Ingo Swann, the U.S. government’s top psychic spy, ‘mystery’ becomes part of your DNA. But nothing prepared me for what I would uncover after he once told me, ‘We are not alone on this planet.’”
With this haunting revelation as her starting point, Elly Flippen embarked on a journey few dare to undertake. Years later, a declassified 1973 briefing confirmed what she had long suspected — that unseen forces, non-human intelligences, and secret programs have been quietly shaping our reality from behind the veil.
Her search led her deep into the realms of remote viewing, UFO research, interdimensional phenomena, and consciousness exploration. Along the way, she uncovered evidence of “haunted gateways” — liminal spaces where reality bends — and engaged in direct interactions with non-human entities that transformed her understanding of existence itself.
Part memoir, part investigation, Conjunction.World explores those cracks in the mirror of ordinary perception — the places where science, spirit, and secrecy converge, revealing a multidimensional truth about what it means to be human in an inhabited cosmos.

“The way to keep people stupid, even if you make them literate, is to focus on what’s wrong. Spend your life wondering what’s wrong with us, and you’ll never see what’s right with us. What is good with us deserves just as much attention.”
Ingo invites readers to reimagine what it truly means to be human. In this thought-provoking collection, Swann explores the hidden dimensions of life force energy—not as a mere spark of vitality, but as a living, sentient intelligence that connects all beings. He challenges us to awaken to our innate perceptional awareness system, the subtle capacity through which we can sense, understand, and even communicate with this vast energetic field.
Editor Elly Flippen, while on her own path of awakening through her project Conjunction.World, turned to her uncle Ingo’s Superpowers of the Human Biomind essays seeking deeper insight. Immersed in his writings, she discovered a network of profound ideas on awareness, perception, and the untapped power of human consciousness. Guided by inspiration and personal revelation, she compiled and edited this volume — a curated gateway into Swann’s most illuminating explorations.
Why Do We Feel There Is More to Us Than We, or Anyone, Knows About? is more than a book; it’s a journey of rediscovery — a call to remember that within each of us lies an infinite reservoir of wisdom, creativity, and light.

Though best known as the Father of Remote Viewing, Ingo Swann often explored the vastness of human potential through his art — and, surprisingly, through his cooking. A true creative visionary, Ingo expressed imagination not only on canvas but also in the kitchen, where every meal became a kind of living artwork.
Armed with little more than a double-coil hot plate, a few cast-iron skillets, and a deep affection for Miracle Whip® and Cool Whip®, he conjured dishes that rivaled the finest restaurants in Manhattan. His gatherings were legendary — filled with laughter, curiosity, and the unmistakable touch of a man who lived between worlds of science, spirit, and sensual delight.
Stardust Highways offers a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into Ingo as both chef and artist. Through intimate stories (part memoir, part autobiographical reflection written by Ingo himself), never-before-seen photos, recipes, and his breathtaking artwork — spanning from his first still life in 1958 to his final painting, The Lightbringer, now in the American Visionary Art Museum — this book celebrates the creative essence of a truly multidimensional soul.

Each chapter in STAR FIRE begins with lyrics that reference quantum physics, remote viewing and other juicy topics, composed and sung by the main character, a rock star who becomes super-psychic and discovers ominous doomsday weapons that he wants to have both the US and USSR destroy before they destroy the planet.
At that point in my career, I had released just three meditative albums. And yet, Ingo handed me the lyrics to the songs and told me, “I'll be back in four months. I want you to compose and arrange the songs. Hire musicians so we can record the album in time to coordinate with the release date of the book.”
How could Ingo have known that I'd be up to the task? (Could the character in the book have been somewhat auto-biographical?) He could not have known that eight years earlier, I had composed and arranged several rock and pop songs for my 8 piece band while I was still an undergraduate at the University of Buffalo (SUNY at Buffalo). More on that long-lost recording in next month's newsletter.
In any case, I accepted the challenge. It turned out to be an amazing experience. If you've only heard my healing music, you may be surprised by much of this album, which includes elements of rock, pop, disco and jazz. There are also, of course, a few meditative interludes that were to be included, as a way to introduce mainstream movie audiences to my relaxing and healing compositions.
At the studio I recorded at, I met the leading Bay Area disco band called Santa Esmeralda, and hired them, minus their lead singer, as the musicians for the session. As we soon discovered, working with Ingo Swann in the studio was a unique experience. Indeed, after we recorded the blisteringly hot first song, the guys in the band looked at each other and said, "Whew! What got into us?"
We turned to see Ingo just smiling a huge Cheshire cat grin. Although he wouldn't discuss it with us, it was clear he was beaming each of us some special energy, and that is part of the magic of this album. It's much more than just the notes....and it's why I think the music will take you for a ride on what Ingo calls “the psychic starship.”

This album was conceived and produced to be the soundtrack of the movie based on Ingo Swann's best-seller, Star Fire. It was originally described as "a space-rock-disco-opera" and is guaranteed to get your body in motion as it stimulates your mind and soul. Ingo writes: "Hear the beat from the heart / of the universe...help you thrive."
Ingo was a self-taught artist who worked mostly in oil paintings. His artworks express his passion for exploring the mysteries of the Universe and recapture his visions from leaving his body, remote viewing, and seeing auras. His works have been used in many publications, shown at dozen of art exhibits, and are part of the Permanent Collections at The American Visionary Art Museum, The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives at USC Libraries, The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and Edgar Cayce's Association for Research and Enlightenment.
Starting in the late 1950s with his first still life painting and continuing through to his last work of art, Cosmic Intelligence (now owned by the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland) Ingo’s art periods mirror his own journey. From student to visionary, cosmic and later metaphysical artist, Ingo’s goal was to transcend the ordinary into an art form that conveyed an advancing frontier of experience.
**UPDATE**
As the Estate of Ingo Swann, we are profoundly honored to announce that Ingo’s visionary painting Highways is now displayed in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Futures in Space exhibition, opening to the public on July 28, 2025.
Ingo’s connection to space was extraordinary, extending beyond his vibrant artistry into the realm of psychic exploration. As a pioneer of remote viewing, Ingo conducted a psychic probe of Jupiter in 1973, perceiving its rings before their scientific confirmation by Voyager in 1979. His psychic probes of Mars revealed intriguing visions of structures and remnants, hinting at a possible ancient civilization. These experiences deeply informed his cosmic perspective, which shines through in Highways, a masterpiece that captures humanity’s spiritual and exploratory bond with the cosmos.
Now installed alongside other inspiring artworks in the Futures in Space gallery, Highways invites you to ponder our place among the stars and our dreams for the future.

Part memoir, part autobiographical detail written by Ingo, part art book, and part cookbook, Stardust Highways provides an unique insight into Ingo, and showcases his art and love of entertaining.
As a hobby, Ingo created collages (eight layers deep in some cases) around figures cut from the pages of magazines like “Honcho” and “Drummer.” This technique necessitated other visual elements, such as the background environment, to be taken from art, historical, or decorative publications of the time. Who was he making these for? It was one of many unanswered questions about Ingo. But there are over 200 of them and they full of humor and political/social commentary. They are a fitting testimony, not so much to Ingo’s enigmatic nature, but to what has been described as a “compartmentalized” existence in his latter decades, when artists, celebrities, clairvoyants, Manhattan socialites, and students from his remote viewing days were drawn to the building he owned on Bowery and East Fourth Street.
"There is inherent in the work of (cosmic) artists a certain withdrawal of the center of psychic gravity from the external worlds, including the worlds represented by the past, towards an imminent future, where the mind and spirit of the human will soar beyond limitations both of things physical and of present ideas about thought itself.
This withdrawal represents not a retreat of old ideas of mind and spirit, but an encompassment of them with a strange, often befuddling, but certainly exciting drift to the frontiers of mind and awareness themselves."
